WHO WE ARE
At Bowlegs First Baptist Church, we place a strong emphasis on expository preaching. Expository preaching is the practice of systematically explaining and interpreting the meaning of a particular passage of Scripture. By focusing on expository preaching, our goal is to ensure that the Word of God is accurately and faithfully proclaimed to our congregation. This approach allows us to delve deeply into the biblical text, examining its context, meaning, and application for our lives today.
The importance of God in our preaching cannot be understated. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, we are reminded that "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." By centering our preaching on the Word of God, we seek to honor and glorify Him while providing spiritual nourishment and guidance to our church family. Through faithful expository preaching, we strive to grow in our understanding of God's Word and deepen our relationship with Him.
The Mission of the Church
The church, as ordained by God in the Scriptures, holds a vital role in the life of believers and in the world. It serves as a beacon of hope, a community of faith, and a place of worship where God is glorified. Through the preaching of His Word, the fellowship of believers, the church nurtures and equips individuals for the work of the Kingdom.
At Bowlegs First Baptist Church, we exist to proclaim the Gospel, to make disciples of all nations, and to demonstrate God's love through our actions. We believe in the power of the church to bring transformation, healing, and redemption to a broken world. As we gather in worship, study the Scriptures, and serve our communities, we fulfill our mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around us.
May we never lose sight of the importance of the church as a divine institution, established by Christ Himself. Let us strive to honor God in all we do, to support one another in love, and to spread the message of salvation to all who will listen. In fulfilling our mission, we bring glory to God and fulfill His purpose for us.
Ephesians 4:11-12 (ESV)
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelist, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for all the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.
